Deja Vu All Over Again

Pardon us, but isn't the story line of today's FBoFW exactly the same as yesterday's? Only now instead of telling Maw about the insensitive Therese, April is telling Lizardbreath. Presumably, LJ wants to be sure that we understand...dear readers, the oh-so common practice of asking for money as a baby gift is not very couth! Even Liz understands that! Will the rest of the week be spent watching April tell Dr. John, Michael, Robin and Farley's ghost?

While this story lines is being stretched out, admittedly it's not as bad as some strips. For example, at Gasoline Alley (another strip where, depending on your outlook, the characters age OR we age watching the characters), it can take months for a character to get into the car or find his glasses. Right now, the inexplicable Joel and Rufus have been discussing a wedding invitation from Rufus's brother for nearly two weeks.

Meanwhile, over at Doonesbury, Uncle Duke's head seems to be exploding in tribute to Hunter S. Thompson.

April is what, 13? Like she gives a rat's ass about a baby shower, especially for a woman she doesn't even know. Her sister's ex-boyfriend's wife. Yeah, I know that's what I was worried about at 13.

I can totally understand St. Elly Patterson's reaction to money-begging. Therese has been uncouth. However! I do not understand Lizardbreath's reaction today. She doesn't seem to care that Therese has been uncouth. She just cares that GIVING money feels "impersonal."

I'd never be a lout and demand that people give me any kind of gift. Especially cash.

But world - make a note of it: it's all about the Benjamins.

Personally, I love getting cash if someone is inclined to give it to me. Who doesn't? Who has ever opened an envelope and gone, "Cash?! But it's so impersonal!"

You open the envelope and go "cha-ching." Then you go shopping.

Lynn must have caught on to people sympathizing with Therese so she is trying hard to drive home that Therese is evil.

And why is Therese evil on this - but not Anthony? It's his baby, too. Or is that going to be the next revelation? It's not Anthony's baby.

Anthony's not evil; he just goes along with whatever Therese wants because the moustache has drained all his testosterone.

..... Maybe the Evil Therese wants *cash* to can get enough money together to take off, leaving Anthony and the new baby behind in her dust.... opening the door for LizardBreath or Saint Elly to step in? ..... and, regarding cash as a gift - I often give cash (or gift certificates) as gifts. hey, it's always the right color, one size fits all, and no one exchanges it. ;-)

Cash or gift, it doesn't matter. If it came from Elizabeth, Therese will pitch a hissy fit, then rip the gift/cash into pieces, pee on the pieces, and then make Anthony eat them.
